Choosing a Hairdresser

Here are some tips for choosing a new hair stylist or salon.

  • Don’t rush in on a whim. Remember ‘offers’ are just that, offers.
  • Most Salons have different levels of experience to offer. The more experienced the stylist the more you pay.
  • Consultations are usually free, so ask for one before you make an appointment. This will save time on the actual appointment.
  • Remember when you book your time slot with the hairdresser there isn’t time to keep changing your mind.
  • Don’t try to save money by booking a cheaper stylist if you want a level of service that is beyond their ability.
  • Remember with age comes experience, but with youth comes new ideas. Newer stylists usually take a little longer to do your hair so allow for this (don’t park your car on an hours parking! )
  • Look at the salon. Walk into salon and have a look at the products they sell to see how the staff greets you and then you can get a feel for the salon.
  • Look at what else the salon has to offer. Ask about the staff, what courses they have been on, what are their specialities?
  • When you book your first appointment book a blow dry.
  • Try more than one stylist to see the one you feel more at ease with.
  • Remember you can book one stylist to carry out a colour and another one to finish.
  • To save some money you could have a junior to apply your colour and a senior stylish to finish.
  • Remember if you are having a colour for the fist time you need a skin test. Don’t have it done with out one.
  • Even if you have had colour before and you change salons have a skin test, you may react differently to a different brand.

Enjoy your appointment don’t forget to re-book as good stylists get very busy.
